Earned Income Tax Credit Success
Last tax season, United Way and two community partners helped
almost 670 Siouxland families receive more than $882,000 in federal income tax refunds at four free tax preparation sites. Through the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and the American Association of Retired Persons, 19 volunteers were trained and certified to provide sound, accurate tax advice and tax preparation for low and moderate income families. These volunteers and the two agencies hosting the program additionally provided financial literacy education to clients to further promote the United Way’s goal of helping families achieve financial stability. United Way is currently looking for volunteers for the Earned Income Tax Credit program. If interested, click here.
