Legacy Society members provide for the future, making it possible for United Way of Siouxland to improve lives, strengthen our community, and create a brighter future for us all!
Your gift can help….
We know that you want to make a difference now in the lives of others. We also know we need to address future community needs that we may not even be able to imagine at this moment.
Remembering United Way of Siouxland in your estate plans is a simple way to continue your support of our mission after your lifetime. Your commitment is a reflection of your values, and ultimately, your legacy.
Legacy Society members will be recognized as Leaders in Giving in our annual recognition book as well as in a permanent display at United Way of Siouxland. As a member, you can leave a gift in memory of a loved one, on behalf of the family or for another reason. We will ensure that you are recognized and that your gift is invested as you wish.
How Can I Join the Legacy Society?
There are many ways to Leave a Legacy. Here are two of the easiest ways to endow your annual gift, ensuring that United Way will continue to receive support on your behalf forever.
1. By providing an Outright Gift (cash, check or securities) today that is twenty-times your annual gift, your donation will last forever. Today's gift will be invested and the interest earned will be used to support programs. This gift can be paid all at once, or over the course of several years.
Example of an Outright Gift: If your annual gift to United Way is $1,000, an outright gift of $20,000 will provide annual income for United Way of $1,000 on average, every year, forever.
2. Promising an Expectant Gift today is a pledge to acknowledge United Way as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or in your will. In the future, the value of this gift will be invested and the interest earned will support programs.
Example of an Expectant Gift: Stating in your will that a certain dollar amount, percentage of your estate or a specific asset shall pass to United Way.
Your financial advisor can identify which option is best for you. Legacy gifts can provide significant tax savings.
