Women United Funded Programs

United Way of Siouxland’s Women United awarded $87,200 in grants on March 12, 2026 to Siouxland non-profit programs serving children 0-18 years of age.

Brighter Futures Grants

  • Community Action Agency of Siouxland
    An award of $11,225 will provide STEM Kits for Early Childhood Classrooms, with the goal of increasing the math and science skills of early childhood students. Research shows that strong early childhood experiences can reduce school dropouts, increase graduation and lower delinquency rates.
     
  • Siouxland Youth for Christ
    An award of $10,000 will support the City Life Youth Program, empowering at-risk youth 18 and under in Siouxland’s highest poverty areas through tutoring, meals and mentoring. The program is open to all Siouxland youth, reaching a broad cross-section of the community.
     
  • Mary’s Choice
    The Caring for Our Little Ones program will benefit from a $10,000 award, serving infants 1 year or younger by providing daily hygiene supplies, clothing, car seats and other essential items to low-income families. The goal is to ensure that no infant goes without the items needed for them to survive and thrive.
     
  • Siouxland Community Health Center
    An award for $10,525 will ensure that newborn infants receive a healthy start by providing Infant Safe Sleep Education and critical prenatal care to women who are often high-risk due to social and cultural factors. Early prenatal education and care reduce preterm births, low birth rate, and infant mortality.
     
  • Martha’s Mission Siouxland
    An award of $17,775 will help supply a program that provides essential classroom supplies for kids in need. Teachers may come to Martha’s Mission and select what they need for their classroom at no charge. The program enables teachers to help children in their classroom have the supplies they need to succeed. 
     
  • Mary J. Treglia Community House Preschool
    An award of $18,000 will provide preschool scholarships to disadvantaged students who would benefit greatly from, but could not otherwise afford, a quality preschool education. Children benefit from a whole-child approach to education that develops essential academic skills as well as social connection, problem solving, and health living. 

PROGRAM GRANTS

  • Siouxland Foster Closet
    The Foster Closet provides clothing and critical supplies to foster children at no charge. An award of $4,999 will enable the agency to supplement their inventory and help children entering foster care to feel seen, heard and worthy. 
     
  • Siouxland District Health Department
    The award of $4,676 will provide preventative dental health services to underserved populations in a school-based program called I-Smile@School. The goal of the program is to expand access to preventative oral health services to first graders at multiple grade schools in Sioux City. 

Since 2006, Siouxland’s Women United has awarded $1,515,590 to local non-profit groups aimed at providing research-based, life-improving programs for Siouxland youth. The members of Women United are committed to supporting sustainable programs with positive results.
